Euro Cards Are Here: Pay Zero Fees on Your Euro Spending

Oct 9, 2026
EURO Cards are here. Live now for Wirex cardholders

If your got a Solid card as a european, it is now a euro card. Every purchase in euros can be paid with zero fees: no conversion to dollars, no FX fee, nothing. There are two ways to get there, with EURC or with soUSD, and both are live today. Here is what changes, who can use it, how to set it up in two minutes, and what is coming next.

‍

‍

What’s new today

  • A euro balance in Solid, backed by EURC, a euro stablecoin pegged one to one to the euro.
  • Euro purchases paid from your euro balance 1:1. Zero fees on your euro spending.
  • No EURC? Hold soUSD and turn on Credit mode: your euro purchases are covered from your savings, with no FX fee, while they keep earning.
  • EURC deposits are free.
  • Your dollar balance stays as a fallback. Purchases in other currencies are unchanged.
  • Live now for Wirex cardholders. Enable it from the card page.

Why it matters: a fee cut, not a feature

Until today, euros deposited into Solid became dollars, and every euro purchase was converted back from euros to dollars at checkout, with the FX fee built into the exchange rate. If most of your spending is in euros, that fee landed on every single purchase.

With a euro balance, euros stay euros from deposit to checkout. A €15.00 coffee takes exactly €15.00. You pay the price on the receipt, nothing more.

Two side benefits worth knowing. Your balance is always worth the same in euros, with no USD/EUR drift between the day you deposit and the day you spend. And there is no longer a crypto-to-crypto swap behind every euro purchase, which keeps your records simpler for tax.

Paying in EUR, before and now: euros held as EURC, paid 1:1, no FX fee on euro purchases, free EURC deposits

Two ways to spend euros with zero fees

1. Deposit EURC. Open your card page in Solid, tap Enable EURC spending, then send EURC on the Base network to your Solid wallet address. The deposit is free. A euro purchase your euro balance covers is taken in euros, one for one, with no FX fee. Send it to your wallet address, not to a vault deposit address, and on Base only.

2. Hold soUSD and turn on Credit mode. You do not need to deposit euros at all. Keep your money earning in Savings as soUSD, switch your card to Credit mode, and your euro purchases are covered from your soUSD with no FX fee. Your savings keep earning while you spend.

Either way, zero fees on euro spending. Pick the one that fits how you hold your money, or use both: the euro balance is used first, and Credit mode covers the rest.

How payments are taken

A purchase counts as a euro purchase only when the merchant charges you in euros. Purchases in any other currency (pounds, krona, baht, dollars) are converted by the card network at your card provider’s rate, which includes its FX fee, exactly as before. Nothing changes for those.

If you hold a euro balance but it cannot cover the whole purchase, even by a cent, the whole purchase is paid from your dollar balance at the rate at the time of payment, with the usual FX fee. One purchase is never split between the two balances. With Credit mode on and enough soUSD, the purchase is covered from your soUSD instead.

Who can use it

Euro cards are available on Solid cards issued by Wirex. This covers every EU and EEA member state, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the other Wirex countries. Cards issued by Rain, including the United States, are not included for now.

The quickest check: open your card page. If you see Enable EURC spending, you are eligible. The full country list is in the help center.

Coming next

  • Euro yield. Your euro balance will earn the way your dollars do in Savings. Not live yet. We will announce it in the app the moment it is.

Good to know

  • What is EURC? A euro stablecoin issued by Circle, the issuer of USDC. One EURC is always worth one euro.
  • Where do I get EURC? On most major exchanges. Withdraw it on the Base network to your Solid wallet address. Other networks are not supported for the euro balance.
  • Do I have to deposit EURC? No. Hold soUSD in Savings and turn on Credit mode on your card, and your euro purchases are covered with no FX fee.
  • Can I send euros from my bank into the euro balance? Not yet. Euro bank transfers still land in your dollar balance as today. For now, the euro balance is funded with EURC.
  • Do I still earn cashback? Yes. Euro purchases earn the same cashback as any other eligible card purchase, by your Rewards tier.
  • What counts as a euro purchase? One where the merchant charges you in euros. If you pay in another currency, the card network converts it and the provider’s FX fee applies as it does today, even on a euro card.
  • What about refunds? Refunds come back to your dollar balance as USDC, valued at the rate the purchase was charged at, even if you paid from your euro balance.
  • Sent EURC on another network or to the wrong address? Contact support from the app before doing anything else.

Euro cards are available to Solid cardholders whose card is issued by Wirex and are enabled from the card page. The euro balance is held in EURC on the Base network in your own non-custodial wallet; only EURC sent on Base to your Solid wallet address is credited. A purchase is treated as a euro purchase only when the merchant charges it in euros. A euro purchase is charged to the euro balance when it covers the full amount; with Credit mode enabled and sufficient soUSD it is covered from your soUSD without an FX fee; otherwise it is charged in full to the dollar balance at the rate at the time of payment, where the FX fee for your tier applies. Credit mode is subject to its own terms, including the collateral and borrowing rules shown in the app. Purchases in any other currency are converted by the card network at the card provider’s rate, which includes its FX fee, and are unchanged by this release. Refunds are credited to the dollar balance at the rate of the original purchase, net of cashback. Euro yield is not available yet; features marked as coming next are not live. Fees, supported countries and routing rules may change with notice and are detailed in the help center. Nothing here is tax advice. EURC, USDC and soUSD are digital assets; Solid is a non-custodial platform and you control your keys and your funds.
